Cowboy Statue Mr. J.C. Camp, a local Checotah citizen and businessman, bought the cowboy from a western store in Tulsa, OK, in 1970 and brought it to his western store in downtown Checotah. In the late 1980's he moved the cowboy east across the tracks where it is now. He built a few shops including his western store and a saddle, boot and leather store. It has been repainted a few times and will stay at its present location unless something better comes along. Mr. Camp still lives in Checotah as of October, 2011. |
